I have been an advanced practice psychiatric nurse since 2005. Originally from the Midwest, I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from South Dakota State University, a Master of Science Degree in Nursing (Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Post-Master's Certificate (Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner) from Rush University in Chicago. I am board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
I prescribe medication for the treatment of a variety of psychiatric disorders and provide psychotherapy in some cases. I value patient participation and coordination of care with established treatment team providers (such as a primary care provider or counselor) when appropriate and/or desired by the patient. I believe strongly in the power of the therapeutic relationship and strive to give each of my patients individualized care in a private, relaxed environment guided by a treatment plan that has been mutually developed. My practice welcomes members of the LGBTQ+ community and is limited to the treatment of adults (18 and over). Supportive counseling is usually incorporated into the medication management treatment plan. Patients must be located in Washington State to receive care.
I truly enjoy what I do and I believe that my genuineness and care for my patients show. I feel privileged to be able to do my best to help people struggling with challenging, sensitive issues in their lives. Although my specialty is psychiatry, I have been a registered nurse since 1996 and have provided bedside care to patients across the age spectrum with illnesses ranging from heart disease to terminal cancer. I have worked in group practices and am a US Navy Nurse Corps retiree. I feel I am a well-rounded healthcare provider and person.
